Gutter Installation

Many homeowners do not realize the importance of installing new gutter systems. By collecting and carrying water safely away from the home, properly installed gutters protect the home in many ways:

Foundation problems - Problem gutters can dump gallons of water directly onto the ground next to the foundation of a house. This water sometimes exacerbates foundation settlement problems
Landscape washout - Many homeowners have experienced damaged landscaping caused by gutter problems
Undermined driveways, patios, and walkways - Excess water flowing into the ground near the house can erode the dirt directly beneath driveways, patios, and walkways. As the dirt is washed away, the driveway, patio, or walkway is no longer fully supported and can settle, crack, or even collapse. If you have already experienced this type of damage, fix the gutter or downspout problem before replacing or repairing the driveway, patio, or walkway.
Damaged fascia, soffit, or outside wall (Wood structures adjacent to the gutters) - Problem gutters can cause damage to a house's structural integrity by allowing water to damage the fascia, soft, or wood framing of the house
Termite colonies - Because termites need water to reproduce and thrive, gutters that dump excess water near the house encourage termite infestation

We hang our 5" or 6" gutter with the hidden hanger method which involves fitting a bracket inside the gutter and screwing with a 1 ½ in screw to the fascia board. As the bracket does not penetrate the front edge of the gutter, it is hidden from view. In order to insure solid support, we install hidden hangers every 2 feet. Spacing is key to successful attachment. No matter what method is used, if the attachments are placed too far apart, they will not support the weight of the gutter adequately and will eventually cause sagging gutter, uneven flow and prevent proper drainage. Some homes have damaged wood and need repair prior to installation. We specialize in wood repair and wood replacement.

Leaf Screens

Why use leaf screen? Aside from the obvious fact that gutter cleaning is a major chore, clogged gutters are one of the leading causes of damage to the roof and fascia of the home.

Damage begins wherever water is unable to flow freely and evenly and begins to leak behind the gutter. This will eventually lead to mildew or rot in the wood fascia or soffit boards. As this mildew begins to grow and spread, the board begins to rot. With each rain, this moisture and damage starts to spread close to the interior of your home causing damage to your roof beginning at the edge.
